Additional Information

In 1405 the Venetian period began for Verona, a long phase in which the city was on the one hand pacified and on the other less prosperous due to the ban on exports. Venice in fact kept the most important public offices for itself and its patricians, leaving the Veronese with the conditions for the surrender of a strong self-government. The 16th century in Verona saw the economy flourish again and new vigor was given to the construction of important churches and palaces, one of the most important architects of which was the architect Michele Sammicheli.
