The “Wine Route” takes shape through a series of itineraries and routes, along which to discover the natural, cultural and environmental values, the vineyards and the cellars qualified to welcome tourists in search of the wonders that this land can offer. The area of oldest wine production, Valpolicella Classica, coincides with the five municipalities of Negrar, San Pietro in Cariano, Marano di Valpolicella, Fumane and Sant’Ambrogio di Valpolicella. Located in the northern part of the city of Verona, enclosed between the Adige to the west and the Lessinia to the north, Valpolicella is the land that Valpolicella Superiore and Ripasso, the sweet Recioto and the very famous Amarone.
Wine production in this area dates back to prehistoric times and is strengthened with the production of some of the most famous Italian DOC red wines: Valpolicella, Etruscan and Roman influences. Vine cultivation reaches its maximum diffusion in the Middle Ages to supply the city of Verona with wines and, later, also nearby Venice. In the second half of the nineteenth century, the wine-growing activity is modernized in terms of technique and organization: specialized vine cultivation expands, the first social wineries develop and exports to foreign countries begin.

The program includes a meeting with the guide at Porta Nuova in Verona or Verona Nord. Then you reach with your coach and visit the Romanesque Pieve di S. Giorgio. Afterwards, you visit a wine cellar with tasting.

Then we continue to SOAVE

Soave is a small town in the eastern Veronese area, famous throughout the world for the production of white wine, made with the GARGANEGA grape, which is grown in the mixed limestone-basaltic soils of its valley. The town is completely surrounded by medieval Scaliger walls from the mid-fourteenth century, dominated by a very well-preserved castle and has a rather intact medieval center, even if small. Our visit proposal includes meeting with the guide at Porta Verona near the walls. Then we head by bus directly to the castle (reservation required, entrance fee). Then we walk down to visit the historic center with Piazza Antenna, the Palazzo Pretorile, Palazzo Cavalli, Palazzo Municipale, Porta Aquila, Palazzo del Capitanato and the Parish Church with a painting by Morone. Otherwise, we first visit the medieval village and then go up to the castle, with the program in reverse. The itinerary then continues with a visit to a winery where in addition to the illustration of the production you can have a tasting (for a fee) of local wines, including the famous Recioto, with salami, Monte cheese, olive oil and local specialties.
