Additional Information

Inhabited since 2000 BC, what we know today as Mantua is a mirror of the history of Italy and humanity.

Built by the Etruscans, it was subjected to Roman domination, giving birth to the parents (“mantuani per patria ambedui”) of the great Virgil. Seat of great religious councils, it became a Free Municipality and was the scene of the Manzonian descent of the Lanzichenecchi, until it passed under the wing of the Habsburgs, French domination and finally the Kingdom of Italy. It was the site of the first democratic administrative elections after the end of the twenty years of fascism.

In short, a city that has lived history as a protagonist.
